Welcome

Brent Jacobs paints every day in his studio overlooking the Pacific Ocean. He paints the world he knows, work often reflecting the human condition or cultural diversity. He is creating a body of work that is both personal, contemporary and insightful.

    I've taken an indirect path to discover oil painting. I pursued several paths, including studying acting with Lee Strasberg, before landing in real estate while raising a family.

    I enjoy working in oils, exploring the craft of traditional painting and the creative process as well. Paintings evolve in ways that are often unpredictable, but I embrace that aspect!

    My family, friends, random scenes and the places I've recently traveled with my wife are all things that inspire me to create, learn and discover an alternative way to see the world.

    ABOUT THE ARTIST

    Brent Jacobs grew up in Los Angeles in an artistic family.  His mother was an actress, and father was an artist who graduated from School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  For 60 years he supported his family as a sports cartoonist and commercial artist.  
           After finishing his undergraduate work in Theater Arts at Long Beach State, Jacobs headed to New York to study drama with Lee Strasberg at the Actors Studio.  After struggling as an actor for several years in Hollywood, he realized acting was not a sustainable (or stable) career. Jacobs ventured into commercial real estate, specializing in the then emerging bio-tech industry, for 42 years.
           Upon retiring, Jacobs enrolled in an art class with local painter Jeff Yeomans at the Athenaeum School of Music and Art in La Jolla, learning about color harmony and composition.  He found that painting fueled his creative side and further study with Oscar Aguirre at the Artes Studio in San Miguel de Allende also influenced his wor
